The Switch train just keeps on rolling. This marks 24 straight months that the Nintendo Switch has been the best selling console in the US.
The Nintendo Switch, unlike the Series X and Playstation 5, is actually available to buy right now and is still flying off the shelves 3 years after its launch in 2017. It moved 1.35 million units in November beating both the Xbox Series X and Playstation 5 consoles. What makes this feat impressive is the fact that both of those consoles launched last month and sold out immediately. You still can’t find one because of scalpers and those of you lucky enough to grab one before someone else does.
There are obviously some caveats here. These numbers are for the US only. It does not include worldwide sales, but we do know that early retail estimates place the PS5 at over 2 million units sold worldwide. It remains to be seen if the Switch will continue leading the pack in the United States as more consoles become available. Hopefully, Microsoft and Sony will do something about all of those scalpers out there that’s making it hard for their fans to buy their products.
Nintendo was helped by a steady flow of good first-party support. The juggernaut known as Animal Crossing and the newly released Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity has undoubtedly helped move a lot of Switch consoles this year.
I think Switch sales will continue to impress in the coming months. Especially if those rumors of a Switch Pro are true.
I’m Omar. I’m the founder of drakulus.com and the new founder of Petescorner.net. I cover every type of game genre there is and I’m using all of the skills I learned over the last 7 years working on Drakulus to make Pete’s Corner the best it can be. My favorite types of games are strategy, RPGs, and Shooters. That doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy other types of genres. Those are just my top 3. You can expect my brutally honest opinion on what I think of games in long reviews, editorial pieces, and game news coverage.
