I skipped the Game Awards show this year. I knew it would be trash and, according to most people in my timeline on Twitter, it was. So I looked up all of the “big” announcements and decided to put together a little list of the games I’m looking forward to playing.
The Game Awards was a waste of my time last year so I decided to not watch the show anymore. Events like E3 (hopefully it’s dead and gone), Game Awards, etc are always boring to me. So why bother watching them when I can just play catchup by reading for 10 minutes? Without further ado, here are the five best announcements that came from the Game Awards.
5. Crimson Desert
I really like the fact that out of all the games that were shown off last night this one actually showed mostly gameplay. The reason why it’s on the bottom of the list is that it’s being developed by Pearl Abyss and I’m just not convinced they can make a great game based on how they’ve handled Black Desert Online. This game is pure eye candy though and it’s a game I’m going to keep a close eye on.
I love third-person shooters and I love co-op games. Outriders look like it’s going to be a good live service game, unlike Avengers. Everything I’ve seen on the game tells me it’s going to be good. I can’t wait to get my hands on this one.
3. Monster Hunter Rise
I really enjoyed Monster Hunter World and I plan on losing myself in Monster Hunter Rise too. I was originally going to get this game on the Switch. It being announced on PC might change my mind though. Either way, this game looks like it’s going to be incredible.
2. Dragon Age
The Bioware fan in me is screaming right now. We didn’t get one big announcement from them. We got two and the next game will, obviously, be number 1. A new Dragon Age has me really excited. I know it’s the cool thing to do to hate on Bioware, but I honestly think they did a great job with Inquisition and Andromeda. Anthem was their only weak point. I know that’s an unpopular thing to say, but oh well…
1. Mass Effect
I’m really excited to see that Mass Effect is still alive and kicking. It looks like this will be a follow-up to Mass Effect 3 rather than Andromeda and that makes me a little sad because I really loved Andromeda. More Mass Effect is never a bad thing though.
And that’s it. I’ll do a special shoutout to Scarlet Nexus. That game looks like it’ll be a crazy good time. The Game Awards show seemed like a big waste of time so I’m glad I decided to skip this year. I might do the same next year.
I’m Omar. I’m the founder of drakulus.com and the new founder of Petescorner.net. I cover every type of game genre there is and I’m using all of the skills I learned over the last 7 years working on Drakulus to make Pete’s Corner the best it can be. My favorite types of games are strategy, RPGs, and Shooters. That doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy other types of genres. Those are just my top 3. You can expect my brutally honest opinion on what I think of games in long reviews, editorial pieces, and game news coverage.
